Pedestrian counters – Panboola Wetlands, Pambula

The purchase and installation of 2 pedestrian counters has certainly provided Panboola Wetlands with information about how many and where people go when they visit Panboola Wetlands in Pambula. 

“For example the concrete path we know as ‘Yowaka St’ has been inundated with water after a very wet start to the year. This has resulted in a significant decline in the use of this pathway and the associated safe parking area at the start of the path. With drier conditions over Winter the path has dried out and we now see an average of 142 activations on the counter per day. People walking dogs or pushing prams, runners and cyclists clearly prefer to use paths where they won’t get wet and muddy feet! This knowledge has encouraged us to direct resources toward solving the problem of the ‘puddle path’. Volunteers collect and record data from each of the counters on a weekly basis. From this we know that Olwyn’s Link and the Old Pambula Racecourse are also popular with visitors with an average of 91 activations per day.”
