“Transformation through Fire” Workshops

"An Introduction to Bronze Casting - Transformation through Fire" a series of two workshops were designed and delivered by local Sculptor Ross Cameron.  This project aimed to provide bushfire survivors with a healing experience where fire can be considered a creative element to help them heal from the trauma caused by recent bushfires. The workshops were a great success, all participants successfully created original artworks in lead-free pewter using Cuttlefish bone moulds. The participants were able to create a variety of objects, including jewellery, pendants, and small sculptures. The workshops also provided an opportunity for the participants to connect with each other and share their stories, creating a supportive and safe environment for all.

Heart Defibrillator for Eden Service and Social Club Inc.(ESSCI)

Eden Men's Service Club was established in 1992 and since that time, the age of its members has been steadily increasing. Currently, the average age of the members is over 70 years old. A  lot of hard work is put into the labour-intensive tasks they carry out which can be challenging and draining. Having a heart defibrillator at work could be a potential life-saver for any Club member or bystander who might have an unresponsive episode. This could save lives and provide immeasurable peace of mind to all those in the workplace.

KidBargo 2023 – was fun!

The grant was used to upgrade the content and presentation of the children’s festival at the 2023 Cobargo Folk Festival. With the help of our funding, they were able to rebrand the children's festival as "KidBargo". KidBargo! was managed professionally and delivered a high-quality experience targeted at children under 12 and their parents. It included child-focused performances, a range of activities from arts and crafts, dance and wellbeing workshops and a flag parade. The program also included the 2023 Cobargo Folk Festival Schools’ Concert held at the Cobargo Public School, drawing in children from Quaama. This has been an annual event during festival week. Our grant allowed them to engage in three top-quality acts this year, with school-based experience. KidBargo! was a fun and safe space for families to explore their creativity and have fun together. The venue was well-attended and feedback about the program was highly positive. It has…

“Fire Across The Water” Book, Wonboyn Village

The business base of the town was also affected. Oysters could not be harvested and in some cases died. The Caravan Park lost all its business for some time. Sadly their shed which housed all their maintenance equipment was also lost and some of the sites, people’s homes, within the park were lost. A local timber harvesting family business also lost all of its harvesting equipment. Local Author and Community Member, Susie Sara, has been gathering stories and pictures about the fires from all those affected in the Wonboyn Community. These stories include memories of the RFS firefighters who were on the front line when the fire impacted: Residents, some who stayed and some who left, campers, post fire supporters, visitors, defence force, service…
